Coronavirus: 1,100 deaths in France, 2,722 people hospitalized in Eastern France

The progression of Covid-19 continues, hitting mostly the elderly in Ehpad. There are now 1,100 deaths in France and 595 patients in reimplantation in the Grand Est. The ARS no longer gives the number of deaths in the region.

As of March 24 at 2 p.m., 2722 people are hospitalized in the Grand Est, including 595 in intensive care, 69 more than yesterday. Thanks to the mobilization of all the players in the Greater East, the LRA has been able to double the capacity of intensive care units in the region and now has nearly 900 beds in intensive care.

625 people have already been discharged from hospital, their state of health having been considered reassuring.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, the total number of patient deaths for the Greater East region has reached 407, taking into account people confirmed virologically positive for the Covid-19 Coronavirus as well as people who have not been tested but whose death is reported to be due to a Coronavirus infection.

This development confirms that the situation continues to worsen. It is absolutely imperative to remain in confinement at home, to limit external movements to the strict minimum and to strictly respect barrier measures.

Thanks to the support of the armed forces’ health services, 6 patients from the Mulhouse hospital were evacuated to hospitals in Brest and Quimper via Operation Morpheus.

This support is reinforced by the current operational functioning of the Military Reanimation Element of the Armed Forces Health Service (EMR-SSA). Healthcare teams made up of 90 soldiers from the SSA (Armed Forces Health Services) and the technical support of 30 soldiers from the RMED (Army Medical Regiment) took care of the first patient today, in the early afternoon. In coordination with the medical teams from the Mulhouse Hospital Center, the EMR-SSA will gradually ramp up to reach full operational capability by the end of the week. It will then be able to implement 30 resuscitation beds.

The ARS Grand Est would like to salute and thank the health services of the armed forces who are mobilizing for our region.
